Users will now be able to search for photos based on the contents of the image. Facebook is getting a backend update regarding its search feature, thanks to its computer vision platform. These search results will place higher in the grid with other relevant photos listed after them. ADVERTISEMENTFacebook also appears to tie search results from other context clues, such as captions and comments. For example, a keyword search of "pictures of pizza" will show photos from friends and public results that feature pizza in them, be it ad, group photos, or memes.

Facebook now lets you search for photos by describing their contents

Facebook now lets you search for photos by describing their contents
Facebook AI now lets you search a photo by describing the contents of the image or using keywords. With Facebook's new AI search, users just have to describe the contents of the photo e.g, "black shirt", "water park" or "walking to.." etc., and Facebook will identify the pictures through visual search. This, in turn, helps us better describe photos for the visually impaired and provide better search results for posts with images and videos. This is different than searching the photos in which you are tagged or pictures that are labeled i.e text-word searching. Many times users forget to label a photo or adda description and it becomes difficult for them to search later.

Facebook is now smart enough to let you search for photos using words

Facebook is now smart enough to let you search for photos using words
Facebook has updated its search algorithm to let you search for photos using your poetic descriptions. These annotations were then built into the machine-learning model to recognise descriptions we would normally use while searching for photos. Think it as visual search. The visual search is only available to users in the US for now. That of using its image understanding AI to help improve automatic alt text (AAT) for photos, a feature that can describe the contents of photos for people who are visually impaired.
